What are Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners are an alternative solution to a straighter, more beautiful smile! The most commonly known system is Invisalign but there are others in the marketplace such as Clear Correct. We utilize both in our office. Treatment with aligners consists of a series of clear, comfortable and removable aligning trays. Using 3D computer imaging, each tray is custom made with CAD/CAM technology and custom fit your teeth.

Clear aligners, such as Invisalign® or Clear Correct are great for adults and teens, but not all dental issues can be treated effectively. Doctors Floreani, O’Toole & Dool can determine if this treatment is the best fit for you and your orthodontic needs.

Benefits of Clear Aligners

The largest benefit of aligner treatment is that they are clear and virtually invisible. There are no diet limitations on what you can eat or drink during treatment, as the trays are removed before meals. Additionally, removing aligners makes brushing and flossing a breeze. Most patients find clear aligners more comfortable than traditional braces with no metal or wires, which leads to fewer emergencies. The orthodontist creates a custom virtual treatment plan before you start, which allows you to visualize how your teeth will appear when treatment is complete.

How Do Clear Aligners work?

Each set is worn for approximately two weeks. They should only be removed to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Your teeth will move little by little as these aligners are replaced in sequence. This will continue until your teeth have straightened to the final position. Each aligner moves the teeth a fraction of a millimeter and these small changes add up as you go through the sequence. Often, small tooth coloured attachments are placed on the teeth so the aligners can grip the tooth better to aid in tooth movement.
